WELCOME

Welcome to the IEEE WCNC 2023 Workshop on ULTRA HIGH DATA RATE ENABLED NEXT GENERATION HYPER-RELIABLE AND LOW-LATENCY COMMUNICATIONS FOR FUTURISTIC 6G

Based on the success achieved in the PREVIOUS editions held within IEEE COMSOC Flagship conference, the Workshop on ULTRA HIGH DATA RATE ENABLED NEXT GENERATION HYPER-RELIABLE AND LOW-LATENCY COMMUNICATIONS FOR FUTURISTIC 6G aims to focus on the continuous advancements in wireless communication technologies, with the goal of achieving higher speeds, lower latency, increased reliability, and broader coverage.

The envisioned heterogeneous nature of 6G necessitates the development of innovative advanced waveform and modulation design to enable the seamless integration of the licensed and unlicensed bands. Moreover, 6G is expected to be a self-contained, flexible, and autonomous ecosystem, which requires the integration of multiple vertical features including connectivity, sensing, caching, edge-computing, and AI-empowered decisionmaking. An important differentiation of 6G from current communication standards is that global solutions will be needed to manage massive numbers of distributed heterogeneous cell-free network entities. While cellcentric approaches dominate the current network protocols, 6G will be based on user-centric paradigms where the resources allocated to a certain user, e.g., access point, frequency band, and power resources, are assigned in a dynamic cooperative manner. Hence, establishing advanced resource management mechanisms that operate across different technologies is essential. Likewise, the use of multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) and massive MIMO will be a main player in enabling coherent cell-free transmissions across the network. Effective utilization of MIMO requires es the development of novel techniques for interference cancellation and beam management subject to the physical layer restrictions and non-coherent operation of high frequency bands. In this workshop, we aim to collect papers that cover the aforementioned topics related to achieving ultra-high speed, low latency, and massive connectivity for future wireless networks.
