Speaker Bios
Michele Nogueira is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil. She received her doctorate in Computer Science from the University Pierre et Marie Curie – Sorbonne Université, France. She was on a sabbatical leave at Carnegie Mellon University, USA (2016-2017). Her research interests include wireless networks, network security and dependability. She has worked on providing resilience to self-organized, cognitive and wireless networks by adaptive and opportunistic approaches. Today, her research focuses on creating network security intelligence supported by data science. Dr. Nogueira was one of the pioneers in addressing survivability issues in self-organized wireless networks, being the work “A Survey of Survivability in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks”, one of her prominent scientific contributions. She has been a recipient of Academic Scholarships from Brazilian Government in her undergraduate and graduate years, and of international grants such as from the ACM SIGCOMM Geodiversity program. She served as Associate Technical Editor for the IEEE Communications Magazine. She served as chair for the IEEE ComSoc Internet Technical Committee. She is an ACM and IEEE Senior Member.
Dr. Amira Alloum is a Senior Staff Engineer at Qualcomm, Leading Qualcomm Wireless R&D Center in France. Amira’s work at Qualcomm is at the leading edge of 5G Advanced and 6G research, including the setup of the 5G/6G innovation platform project in Lannion France, as integrating the Qualcomm global R&D engagements on XR, IOT, Automotive, Private Networks and NTN trials into the 6G European Research. Her professional tenure spans over 15 years in industrial R&D for International Telecom Industries (Infra & Device Vendors, Operators, Chipset Vendors) and European Research Centers (CNES, inria, Telecom Paris). Amira contributed as a Principal Engineer in the field of applied error correcting coding in wireless communication & standards, post quantum security and optics within Nokia Bell Labs, Alcatel Lucent , Huawei, and Orange. She contributed to 3GPP RAN1 Release 15 effort for the selection and the design of error correcting codes of 5G NR, as earlier to the upper layer decoding design of DVB-SH standard and to the specification of Alcatel Lucent LTE Modem. She has contributed to research projects and publications in collaboration with Professors at global top ranked universities and research centers in Europe, North America, India, China and Middle East , and mentored post graduate students affiliated to these Institutions. The highest degree Amira holds is a PhD. degree Majoring in Information Theory from Institute Mines Telecom/Telecom Paris. Her PhD and Post-Doctoral research were granted by Orange Labs, CNES and Bell Labs.
Hajar Mousannif is an associate professor and coordinator of the Master program in Data Science within the department of computer science at the Faculty of Sciences Semlalia (Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco). She holds a PhD degree in computer Sciences on her work on Wireless Sensor Networks and Vehicular Networks. She received an engineering degree in Telecommunications in 2005. Her primary research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data, IoT, Human Computer Interaction, and next generation technologies. In addition to her academic experience, she chaired the Program Committee of many international conferences. Hajar Mousannif holds two patents on her work on Artificial Intelligence and was selected among 5 best female researchers in North Africa. She received many international awards such as L’Oréal-UNESCO Award and the Emerald Litterati Prize for Excellence. On December 2020, she was selected as the GOLD winner of the prestigious International prize: “WomenTech Global AI Inclusion Award“. She was also featured in Forbes.
Marco Di Renzo Marco Di Renzo received the Laurea (cum laude) and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of L’Aquila, Italy, in 2003 and 2007, respectively, and the Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (Doctor of Science) degree from University Paris-Sud (currently Paris-Saclay University), France, in 2013. Currently, he is a CNRS Research Director (Professor) and the Head of the Intelligent Physical Communications group in the Laboratory of Signals and Systems (L2S) at Paris-Saclay University – CNRS and CentraleSupelec, Paris, France. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, IET, and AAIA; an Ordinary Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, an Ordinary Member of the Academia Europaea; and a Highly Cited Researcher. Also, he holds the 2023 France-Nokia Chair of Excellence in ICT, and was a Fulbright Fellow at City University of New York, USA, a Nokia Foundation Visiting Professor, and a Royal Academy of Engineering Distinguished Visiting Fellow.
Christos Masouros is a Full Professor of Signal Processing and Wireless Communications in the Information and Communication Engineering research group, Dept. Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and affiliated with the Institute for Communications and Connected Systems, University College London. His research interests lie in the field of wireless communications and signal processing with particular focus on Green Communications, Large Scale Antenna Systems, Integrated Sensing and Communications, interference mitigation techniques for MIMO and multicarrier communications. He is a founding member and Vice-Chair of the IEEE Emerging Technology Initiative on Integrated Sensing and Communications (SAC), Vice Chair of the IEEE Wireless Communications Technical Committee Special Interest Group on ISAC, and Chair of the IEEE Green Communications & Computing Technical Committee, Special Interest Group on Green ISAC. He is a member of the IEEE Standards Association Working Group on ISAC performance metrics, and a founding member of the ETSI ISG on ISAC. He is the TPC chair for the IEEE ICC 2024 Selected Areas in Communications (SAC) Track on ISAC, and Chair of the "Integrated Imaging and Communications" stream in IEEE CISA 2024 .
Lina Bariah (Senior Member, IEEE) received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in communications engineering from Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE, in 2015 and 2018, respectively. She was a Visiting Researcher with the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering, Carleton University, Ottawa, ON, Canada, in 2019, and an affiliate research fellow, James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow, UK. She was a Senior Researcher at the technology Innovation institute. She is currently a Lead AI Scientist at Open Innovation AI, an Adjunct Professor at Khalifa University, and an Adjunct Research Professor, Western University, Canada. Dr. Bariah is a senior member of the IEEE, IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Vehicular Technology Society, and IEEE Women in Engineering. She is the founder and lead of Women in Machine Learning and Data Science (WiMLDS)-Abu Dhabi Chapter. She was recently listed among the100 Brilliant and Inspiring Women in 6G", by Women in 6G organization. She was an Associate Editor for the IEEE Communication Letters, an Associate Editor for the IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society, and an Area Editor for Physical Communication (Elsevier). She is a Guest Editor in IEEE Communication Magazine, IEEE Network Magazine, and IEEE Open Journal of Vehicular Technology.
